This helicopter got better and better and i have to say it feels really good now. My first test-flight in VR with v2.1 can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjhO7SefzIs

I can't tell anything about the realism but bought it after seeing a review on YouTube from a real pilot (Belatu42) saying that it's quite good and realistic already with a few flaws which needs to be fixed but already are in the radar of the developer according to him. I'm already very happy with the 500E because it's really fun and challenging to fly (without assists) and feels to me as a noob quite believable. It's cool that you fan disable some visual effects like heat shimmering an dust blowup when close to ground from the cockpit but I only found it by luck, so a better manual document would be great. Also would be good if the start up would be pictured, totally missed some things because they were not highlighted by MSFS and totally overlooked the ignition key and fuel valve thing. To me the cockpit looks Weirdly big in VR in comparison to others of MSFS. Tried to adjust the world scale setting but it didn't help. For example the instrument panel and pedals look very far away as if the 3D model is 25% or so too big. Looking forward to further improvements of the light model, manual documentation and integration with the MSFS native startup list. And of course the already mentioned mapping for the throttle. By the way, is it planned to have different variants in the future so you can select one without doors right away from the menu instead of removing the doors manually in the weight scree and? Also would be cool to have an optional tablet or something for a biggerGPS Nav screen which could also be used for showing the (startup) instructions or to change settings like turning the visual effects on and off.

To me the helicopter is good. but after a fresh install of windows 10, the helicopter had great sounding blade popping at first. Then after the second startup of MSFS 2020 the popping went away. Is there a fix for this? Hopefully so. But good aircraft anyway!

I bought the cool heli. Unfortunately, some things don't work as they should. I cannot press the start button on the collective pitch lever. Unfortunately, the flight behavior in pitch and roll is very strange. He flies somehow angular and nods very strongly. There is still work to be done here. Otherwise great heli.

This is my new clear favorite helicopter for the Sim!!! Still needs a few things ironed out, but in all it is very much as it should be!! Fast, precise, agile, nimble, and highly responsive. Just the way a 500 should be. Please don't dull this flight handling down for the noobs! Shes twitchy and highly sensitive on the controls, and that's exactly how this particular bird is supposed to fly. I can't express enough how flying this in VR brings back the feelings of my real helicopter flying days!!! I absolutely LOVE it!!!
Thank you!! Happy you are getting some joy out of it!! :-)
even asymmetric left right lift modelling and left roll at over speed? vortex? blade stall? what exactly you mean not for newbie
Can you please fix the altimeter bug? When you increase the baro pressure knob (altimeter) the altitude goes down? You have to press B for the correct altitude but the altimeter setting will be incorrect (under 2992 when the true altimeter is 3000 for example). Should be a relatively simple fix to add next update please. 9/10 product. 10 if you fix that next update :)
These are just my opinions, so take them with a grain of salt. for context however, I am an experienced pilot with nose-wheel, tail-wheel, and weight-shift experience, as well as a commercial and instrument rated helicopter pilot, although I've not flown a helicopter in a few years. - I wasn't implying its "not for newbies" but was basically saying that this helicopter is very sensitive on the controls, and it should be, because that's how it is in real life. But I've seen quite a few helicopter developers over the last decade or more take numerous complaints from casual simmers about the helicopters being "uncontrollable" and through iterations of patches and updates, they "dumb them down" so as to make them unrealistically over-stable to appease the masses that can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that helicopters are inherently VERY unstable, and difficult to master. They decrease pitch and roll rates, increase yaw stability, and decrease collective response to the point that they destroy the authenticity of the flight characteristics. They become more interested in getting more "satisfied" customers than producing a reasonably authentic product. I would hate to see this one suffer that fate. There are a few things in this one that need refinement, such as vortex ring state behavior, auto-rotation, slipstream at speed, and translating tendency, etc., but those, as I understand it, are in the process of being refined. For now, agility and manuverability as well as the crucial relationships between collective pitch, main rotor torque and yaw, and that balancing act seem to be reasonably close. Enough for an initial release anyway.
Thanks!! :-)
Thanks!! I have that mistake on my list of fixes. :-)
I believe a more effective approach would be to offer a simplified ("dumbed down") version as an alternate option within the settings. This approach could be similar to the free HPG 135 helicopter, which offers three flight modes: Basic, Medium and Advanced. By giving users the ability to choose the level of realism they want, we can accommodate both experienced pilots with sim-rig systems, as well as those who are using basic joysticks or even Xbox game pads. Offering a simplified version will not only be more inclusive, but it will also make commercial sense as a paid product, as it will not exclude potential customers who prefer a less complex-hyper-sensitive flying experience.
100% Agree! P.S. We need a good Huey! ;)
